A fantastic quality late 1800s oil on canvas painting of Leonardo Da Vinci's "La Gisconda" or as it is better known "Mona Lisa". The canvas measures 24inch (61cm) by 16inch (40cm) and is mounted on a mounted on a gilded ornate wood frame, which has slight damage to the bottom left corner.

The back of the canvas is stamped with the supplier (illegible) and London. There are a few small chips to the edges of the canvas.

Probably the best known and valuable painting in the world, it is housed in the Louvre Museum in Paris. The portrait has been the subject of intense debate as to who the woman is, with most experts believing it is Lisa del Giocondo. However, recently it has been suggested that the sitter may be Bianca Giovanna Sforza, the daughter of Ludovico Sforza, the 15th Century Duke of Milan (Carla Glori - The Guardian Newspaper 10/1/11). Part of the argument for this is the background scenery that is believed to be the view from the castle in the small town of Bobbio, which was controlled by the Duke, and where Leonardo Da Vinci visited the famous library.

A chance to own an original early copy of the worlds finest painting and a must for Da Vinci conspiracy theorists.
