Charles W. Simpson Newlyn Original Ink Study Caveman c1950

An amusing India ink study "Portrait of an Ancestor" by the famous Newlyn School artist Charles Walter Simpson.

Born in Camberley 1885, he moved to Cornwall in 1905. After a year in St. Ives, he moved to Newlyn. A friend of Proctor, Laura Knight and Munnings, he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy. He died in 1971.
