A c1930 Art Deco statue by French sculptor Maurice Guiraud Rivière entitled Le Salut de l'Athlete. Most likely cast from Etling, Paris, this statue depicts an athlete performing the Olympic or Joinville salute. The cast has been made in three parts and pinned together and is mounted on a black marble plinth.

The statue was found the office lockers of a grain trader in Rouen, France in the 1980s. There are no signatures or marks, but we guarantee it as original. The height of the statue is approximately 39.5cm, and is very heavy at 5.1kg.
