A rare Victorian c1880 12 carat gold Guard Chain in near mint condition measuring 62 inches (157cm).

The chain links are stamped 12 where it meets the swivel and this is a grade of gold that disappeared after the Victorian period.

These guard chains are rare because of the fact that they were later considered redundant and chopped into shorter neck chain lengths.
