WWII German Kriegsmarine Officer Late War Dirk

£600.00

  • Shipping Weight: 0.8kgs

A very scarce WWII German Kriegsmarine Naval Officers late war variant dirk in very good condition.

The dagger is superficially the same as the standard earlier models but there is a series of economy measures due to the lack of supplies. Firstly the blade is chrome plated and is maker marked EuF for Horster of Solingen. The steel underneath is probably also of a lower quality. The scabbard is made of steel which has been copper plated and then gilt washed. The suspension rings are of the same material and are welded and cannot swivel. These and the scabbard were normally made of brass which was in short supply and kept only for essential use.

Because of the lesser quality, these daggers do not tend to survive or have been disposed of in the belief they were copies.

The dirk is complete with knot.

Length: 42cm
Blade Length: 25cm
