WWII German Late War Sauerland Decal M42 Helmet

A guaranteed 100% original WWII very late war German M42 helmet with traces of camouflage paint and the very rare Sauerland decal as issued in very small numbers to members of the local Volkssturm, last ditch defence force.

We have looked very closely at this helmet, as numerous copies abound, and have concluded that it is original and has the identical decal to the example in the US Westpoint Museum (3rd Pattern without the snake). The clearest indication being the running swastika is very slightly off the center of the white circle.

It is believed that there may be as little as 5 M42 Sauerland helmets in existence.

The liner is very worn, but the frame has never been removed. There is NS34 and 541 impressed on the inside edge, but it is difficult to read. Size seems to be 57.
